Bock beer dates back to medieval days of German monasteries where they would brew a strong beer for nourishment during their Lent festival.
In modern day - Bock beer is usually a bottom fermenting lager that takes some extra months of lagering (cold storage) to smooth out the strong characteristics. Bock beer is generally stronger than the average lager with more robust malt character and the color can range from light copper to brown in color and with higher alcohol somewhere between 6-7%.
In this class we will taste and discuss the 7 different styles of Bock Beer:
1. Traditional Bock 2. Mai-Bock 3. Helles Bock 4. Doppelbock 5. Eis-Bock 6. Smoked Bock 7. Stone Beer Bock
In this class we will discuss the difference between these styles of bock beer and how the style has evolved & transformed over time.

Benjamin Neidhart has worked for B. United International Inc. since 2005. He initially started his career in advertising, but soon realized that beer was his passion. He loves to drink and learn about great beers and cidres so he regularly travels to great beer and cidre producing countries to learn about their culture- such as Germany, Belgium, UK, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, and Japan. Ben has spent time working at Domaine E. Dupont (France) & Aecht Schlenkerla (Germany) helping in operations while learning about the production technique. In his spare time, Ben is a cyclist and an amateur home-renovator on his own house.
