We received 2 Ramato wine barrels from Channing Daughters Winery (Long Island NY). We filled them with Aecht Schlenkerla Helles from our bulk container and it is currently maturing.
Channing Daughters Ramato: "Channing Daughters Ramato is an “orange” wine, produced in the traditional Friulian skin-fermented "Ramato" style. 100% Pinot Grigio, the grapes come from the Channing Daughters' farm as well as the Mudd West vineyard on the North Fork of Long Island. The fruit is hand-picked and handled minimally, and the liquid ferments on its skins in small bins before aging in older French and Slovenian oak barrels for nine months. The finished wine has deep aromatics and rich flavors of dark spice, pear skin, tropical citrus, baked apple, apricot, and peach. Channing Daughters Ramato is only 11.4% ABV and has a balanced acidity, medium-plus body, and great persistence of flavor on the finish. This dry, exotic, textured and aromatic wine falls somewhere between a white and a red but it definitely not a "pink!""
