TWO BREWMASTERS ONE CLASS
Simple sausage and cheese lunch will be provided!
G. Schneider & Sohn’s (classic wheat brewery in Munich) brew-master Hans-Peter Drexler and Italy’s new rising star Birrificio Del Ducato’s (Italy’s most awarded brewery) owner and brew-master Giovanni Campari will join together to discuss the world of classic wheat beer using conventional brewing concept vs the new world of brewing and the rise of Italian Artisanal brewing.
We will intertwine the history and the art and culture to discuss how these two breweries though very different and have very different history have the same vision for the future of craft beer.
The history of wheat beer is also the history of the Schneider brewing family. Georg I Schneider was the pioneer of wheat beer and creator of Schneider Weisse Original recipe, still used today and is revered by all wheat beer connoisseurs. The wheat beer specialists of the Schneider brewery are regularly awarded at international competitions. Hans-Peter Drexler has been head brew master for over 25 years. He will discuss the world of wheat beer- where it comes from to what is in hold for the future for wheat beer and the Schneider brewery/family.
It is a common thought that Italy is wine country and wine is everywhere. However, in the past decade, the craft beer movement in Italy has grown rapidly and local beers have really started compete their place alongside the best wines in the country. Giovanni Campari is the most awarded brew-master in all of Italy. Come see how these wonderful beers are the reflection of the Italian food culture. Truly an experience not to be missed!

Giovanni Campari, Brewmaster of Birrificio del Ducato
Giovanni Campari, as head brewmaster of Birrificio Del Ducato, has led the brewery to become one of the most awarded in all of Italy. With a great sense of humor, Giovanni has a wide range of brewing technique and is capable of brewing a multitude of different styles of beers. He originally did not intend to be a commercial brewer but since he graduated with a degree in Food Science and Technology, he was always fascinated by the magic of fermentation. So it was not long before he decided to become a professional brewmaster. Before he made this leap, he entered into a brewing apprenticeship under the watchful eye of Brewmaster Agostino Arioli at Birrificio Italiano (one of the oldest Italian craft brewery). With Agostino Arioli’s assistance, Giovanni was able to develop solid recipes that allowed him to combine the influence of German traditionalism with American Weft Cost liberalism to create magnificent beers. Giovanni is always using creative combinations of malts, spices, and hops to create inviting flavors and aromas that make his beers one of the best in the world.
Hans-Peter Drexler, Brewmaster of Schneider Weisse (G. Schneider & Sohn Brewery)
Hans-Peter Drexler has been brewmaster of the Schneider Weisse Brewery for the past 25 years. Along with Georg Schneider VI, Hans-Peter has built upon the brewery's legacy with the creation of Schneider Edel Weisse, Aventinus Eisbock and Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfenweisse (A collaboration with Brooklyn Brewery's Brewmaster Garrett Oliver). Hans-Peter Drexler is the foremost expert of wheat beer and is extremely knowledgeable on all facets of the brewing world.
